Colorfully hand-painted, the 24 character masks are made of light, durable neoprene. Their open mouths are covered with light-weight black cloth. These visually powerful masks offer excellent opportunities for developing original and compelling characters for scripted and improv pieces. The asymmetrical and abstract features give room for a wide range of psychological intentions and emotional expressions using a single mask. As they are hand-painted, colors vary from set to set. Mask Characterization: An Acting Process, a book by innovative director and theatre instructor, Libby Appel, contains an entire semester’s acting activities.
